Debris Removal – IMPORTANT NOTE

If homeowners have contracted a company to clean up fallen trees and debris, the company they hire is responsible for the cleanup and removal of the tree and limbs. The city will pick up light debris that is being cleaned up by the homeowner and homeowners that need help should contact the city for pickup, or us for help.
Some companies have charged for take down and cleanup, leaving the debris in the right of way for the city, so they are essentially ripping people off.

Advisory

Cherokee Residents Urged to use Caution when oprating Chains Saws. Storm damage can be reported to 678-493-4059.

Currently the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Division of Emergency Management, GEMA, and the National Weather Service are conducting damage assessments from yesterday’s tornado. The National Weather Service will be conducting a Press Conference at the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Headquarters at 2pm.

Cherokee County Roads and Bridges is urging residents not to place storm debris on the sides of the road. That agency will not be removing debris that has been deposited in the right of way.

Residents are urged to use caution when operating chainsaws. OSHA chainsaw safety tips are as follows:

-Clear away dirt, debris, small tree limbs and rocks from the saw’s chain path. Look for nails, spikes or other metal in the tree before cutting.
-Shut off the saw or engage its chain brake when carrying the saw on rough or uneven terrain.
-Keep your hands on the saw’s handles, and maintain secure footing while operating the saw.
-Proper personal protective equipment must be worn when operating the saw, which includes hand, foot, leg, eye, face, hearing and head protection.
-Do not wear loose-fitting clothing.
-Be careful that the trunk or tree limbs will not bind against the saw.
-Watch for branches under tension, they may spring out when cut.
-Gasoline-powered chain saws must be equipped with a protective device that minimizes chain saw kickback.
-Be cautious of saw kick-back. To avoid kick-back, do not saw with the tip. If equipped, keep tip guard in place.

Storm damage can be called into 678-493-4059. That information will be referred to assessment teams.

Upcoming Information Meeting

Hello Everyone,
You should all be receiving a notice for the upcoming annual meeting in September. We are seeking several new volunteers to get involved with the Board of Directors or any of the committees in the neighborhood.
We currently only have 3 board members as 2 of the members resigned due to personal reasons.
It is important to constantly get new people involved with the board as Kevin and I have both served for 5 years running, we need new ideas, energized people, that are committed to working for the residents to preserve, improve, and upkeep our amenities.
If you are interested in getting involved please contact:
Sally Mooney at [email protected]
We look forward to getting everyone out to the meeting as we will have a lot of information to cover regarding the City, the interchange, the future development, and the neighborhood business.
As always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Front Entrance Paving – May 31st

The City of Woodstock is set to begin work on repaving the main entrance way to Brookshire on Ashland Parkway beginning on Tuesday May 31. Expect heavy delays as there will be only one lane open for exit and entrance to the subdivision during these times. The paving will take approximately four days to complete and we will update with any delays to or changes in schedule.

The initial phase of the project will cover the main entrance to the first stop sign. The exit towards the interchange will be paved, however the top coat will be left off, to be completed when they finish the road improvements with the interchange.
